There are many scam PTR/C sites but basically if a site's admin/support is always available and responsive, then it's a good sign. Another good sign is when the payout limit is not too high, that means you can easily reach payout and see if the site pays as it promised.
Third good sign is when the pay per view or pay per click is reasonable. Generally a site that pays between 0.1cent, 1/4cent, 0.5 cents to 2 cents per view/click is reasonble and to confirm this, you have to check the charges the site takes from advertisers and compare with what goes to members who click/read the ads. If admin charges are so small and pay per click/view is high then it's obviously unsustainable and will turnout a scam site.
A fourth sign of good PTR/C site is when the site is continuously putting innovations and real good promotions to encourage members and also get new people to join. Some do ads raffles, Ads give-aways with any purchased advertising. Example is Christyclix, Some pay for bringing advertisers, example is Bux.gs. Such innovations encourage members.
A fifth sign is ofcourse is if the site pays as it says it would and on time too. These days we have sites that pay instantly as you reach payout, click the button and request payment, especially sites that pay through a payment option called ALERTPAY.
Remember you can purchase advertising from these sites with as little as $1 for views to your site/s. You can also be a member by signing up at these sites and making money for yourself by reading/clicking to view other members/advertisers sites. A win-win for you.
Payout limits could normally range between $0.25, $1, $2 to $10 depending on the site admin's choice. When payout limits are too hign it's obviously difficult to reach in good time and may signal a run-away site/admin (scam), so avoid such sites.

The payment system supported by the PTR site is usually made known on the site home page or at the FAQ page.
